In fact, I've just come out of career, having checked and this is how it is for me.Slow and defenseless but no less iconic of WWII military aviation. Then, I thought that it could be helping you to RTB, but that's the job of the homing instruments. So, I thought, that's not much use because a simple sum could achieve the same thing. Each time I've checked the Course selector I've noticed it indicating a bearing that's more or less in the opposite direction I'm heading. Thing is, I don't read it or I can't read it that way because for eg: (In-game Career) Plane heading 36 deg', Course Selector = 210 deg', next live way-point (yellow) is directly ahead 65 km. In reality, it would have been used for an early version of VOR/ADF radio navigation. I haven't really played around with it beyond that to see if it can be tuned to different waypoints. It points to the next live waypoint in the mission flight plan. As in, is it better paired with another specific instrument? Is it of any actual use in-game, and if so, what is it for and how is it meant to be used in conjunction with the rest of the instruments. Originally posted by Stimmed:I know this thread is old but I have a Q regarding one of the instruments, the Course Selector. Thanks! I was excited when I saw it can do paradrops and such! I am very excited with what you have said so I think i'll get it, because what you describe sounds awesome to me :D Because if you do, there is nothing left, entire gameplay is based on navigation and flying. But in my experience if you are going to play in normal with gps on, it takes away all the fun, because entire point of this palne is to fly only, no gps, no time acceleration. It's good plane and fun if you enjoy non combat gameplay. It's quite a survival stuff, you fly and can't do much when attacked, you count on your cover and one tail gunner. Really intense to try to get back to base with one engine gone, you wounded and in enemy territory while being under attack by every aaa around. I have 2 missions that I will never forget, one was flying back from paradrop mission, still in enemy territory, somewhere behind stalingrad and I was hit by aaa gun, one engine gone and I was wounded. While it sounds boring (and for many it can be), it's actually quite intense. More missions should come one day, especially med evac. You just fly with cargo, land, unload and go back. Originally posted by InPrøgress:Cargo missions, both normal cargo and on parachutes. Other mission I was about to land to deliver cargo when airfield was attacked by russians, it was night so quite a nice view, searchlights, sky lighted up with aaa fire, russian kamikaze rammed me, cargo that was supposed to help soldiers inside a pocket burned in flames.
